It might not be as long lasting as the Hourglass Opaque Rouge and it transfers ever so slightly when you eat/drink, but if I’ve eaten, I’m the type of person that likes to take my lip product off completely and reapply a fresh coat. For me, I found it quite comfortable to wear. I would recommend that you have well moisturised and hydrated lips before you apply this because if you are not used to wearing a matte lip, you might feel it be a little strange and want to lick your lips every two seconds.
This is what I wanted the Hourglass Opaque Rouge to be but sadly I was disappointed as I found the formulation a bit too drying on the lips. I have never, ever come across a lip product that applies so, so smooth and easy, and with one swipe on the lips you get an even, matte and opaque coverage. It has the finish of a matte lipstick, the application of a gloss, and the texture of a cream (hence it’s name). This applies like a dream. This falls into the lip gloss/lipstick hybrid category, but I would say it’s more of a lipstick than a gloss. The next gloss I chose was the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream (£5.50) in the shade San Paulo which is a muted, deep dusky pink hue. Nyx Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler (one coat) The shade I chose was actually a lot deeper in tone than I had expected (in a good way), a very warm peach with a red undertone. It’s a non-stick gloss so don’t expect it to stick around all day but I don’t have an issue reapplying every couple of hours. The colour can be applied on sheer with one coat, or built up to be more of an opaque finish with second coat. It feels like you’re wearing more of a hydrating balm rather than a gloss. The formulation is creamy and incredibly moisturising on the lips. It smells incredibly sweet but not in a sickly way, in a nice I-want-to-taste-you kind of way ( although I wouldn’t advise this). First up, let me talk about the scent of the gloss. This is probably the gloss I have heard of the most through YouTube. The first one I picked up was the Nyx Butter Gloss (£5.00) in the shade Peach Cobbler. Of course, they would have quite a selection of glosses of which I ended picking up three different types (if you know me, indecisiveness and hoarding are issues I deal with on a daily basis) in three different shades. Naturally, what I was most interested in were their lip gloss offerings. A quick browse through their site, I also found out that there are four branches of Next (yes, as in the Next that sells clothing) in London that stock the Nyx Cosmetics range (need to get myself to one of these stores pronto). I didn’t really think much of it until I discovered recently that they have a UK website (how did I not know about this before?).
The product that cropped up the most were their lip glosses. I first heard about the brand from the American bloggers/vloggers over the other side of the pond. YouTube seems to be the place where I tend to find out about new products, whether it be new product launches or product which are just new to me, and that applies to the brand Nyx Cosmetics.
